O'scugnizzos Pizza - The Kings?

Not really.

I finally got a chance to sample Rome's newest pizzaria, O'scugnizzos. They're located on the corner of James and Thomas, where the bakery used to be. Originating from Utica, they recently franchised into Rome and have been running radio advertisements as "The kings of pizza".

At first glance O'scugnizzo's pizza looks like tomato pie: flatbread, square cut pieces with tomato sauce on top, with parmasan sprinkled around. The gimmick is that the cheese is hidden underneath the sauce, making for a unique texture and taste.

There is a lack of grease from cheese that normal pizzas have, which makes it taste...different. It's definitely good, although I'm not sure I can compare it to other pizzas because it's almost like you're eating something else entirely. In some ways it feels like you're eating healthier, although it contains the same contents as any other pizza.

I sampled the wings as well, which didn't impress me.

If you're looking for something different I would suggest giving it a try.

Thanks for the review; I haven't tried it yet. What was the general price range, and do they sell by the slice, or by the whole pie?

It was 12.50 for a large cheese. I'm not sure if they have slices, I didn't see any there.
